HISTORY

Society Empowerment Organization (SEO), established in 2008, is a local non-profit dedicated to empowering Afghan youth, women, and communities through education, livelihoods, humanitarian aid, and sustainable development. Over the past 17 years, SEO has implemented 40+ projects across 18 provinces, reaching thousands of vulnerable families, returnees, IDPs, and marginalized groups.

Guided by a vision of a peaceful, self-reliant Afghanistan, SEO works with communities and civil society to deliver services in education, health, skills development, legal aid, and social protection. Using a participatory, community-driven approach, SEO bridges Afghan communities with international partners, creating opportunities for learning, entrepreneurship, and empowerment.

Backed by partners including UN-WFP, UNESCO, IDLO, The World Bank, IOM, CARE, UNDP, OSF, SEO remains committed to building an equitable and prosperous society for all Afghans.

SEO leverages its sociocultural expertise to partner with civil society, communities, the private sector, and global agencies, delivering region-specific solutions in education, economic development, and advocacy.

GEOGRAPHIC REACH

Headquartered in Kabul, Afghanistan, SEO operates in strategic locations with regional offices in seven regions of Afghanistan and most of cities.

SEO applies a participatory, community-driven approach to design culturally responsive programs that foster empowerment and capacity building. Partnering with civil society, the private sector, and global agencies, SEO delivers tailored solutions in education, health, economic development, legal aid, and advocacy for sustainable development.
